When you rent a new unit online, you have the option of adding insurance to your unit for as low as $9 per month for $2000 worth of coverage. There are also more insurance plans available.

You never know what could happen and it's always best to be safe than sorry.

What's covered ?

Insurance covers you in case of loss or damage to your stored goods from fire, lightning, windstorm, hail, weight of ice, snow or sleet, collapse of building, smoke or water damage (except for flood), vandalism, malicious mischief, or burglary. For Burglary, there must be visible signs of forced entry and a police report must be filed. We also cover your goods while in transit to and from the storage facility as a result from fire, collision, or vehicle overturn.

What kinds of property are not covered ?

Some of the items not covered are as follows: valuable papers, lottery tickets, financial records, electronic data, currency, deeds, securities, stamps, jewelry, watches, precious stones, furs or garments trimmed with fur, firearms, ammunition, and works of art or antiques.

When can I expect to receive my policy?

You will receive proof of coverage upon purchase.

How much of my loss can I recover?

You can recover today's value of your stored belongings (original cost minus depreciation), up to the amount of insurance coverage you purchased.

Are my stored possessions covered by my homeowner/renter policy?

Many homeowner/renter policies provide only limited coverage for possessions stored away from the insured location. You should contact your insurance agent or carrier for more specific details on your coverage.

What should I do if I have a claim?

Claims are best filed over the internet utilizing our Online Claim form which can be accessed by clicking on the 'file a claim' tab above or by clicking here. Otherwise, contact our claims office at 888-545 SMART. Either way, a claims adjuster will personally handle your claim.

Is there a deductible?

There is a $100 deductible, which is waived if you secured your space with a disk or cylinder style lock.
